Please note: Symphonic and its affiliates do not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice. This information is for general purposes only. We recommend consulting a tax professional.
Accounts contracted with Symphonic, a U.S.-based company, for distribution or any other royalty-generating service will receive a 1099-MISC and/or 1042-S form annually, based on earnings from the calendar year.
If you use SplitShare, you are responsible for collecting and securely storing the necessary tax information and issuing any required tax forms, such as the 1099-MISC or 1042-S, in your country, on an annual basis.
Payees invited by an account are not directly contracted with Symphonic. Instead, they are managed by you, the account holder, who is under contract with us.
Payee earnings can be found in two places, and both allow filtering by royalty periods:
- SplitShare Tab: Shows all payee earnings, even for those not enrolled in
SplitShare. - Earning History Page: Displays individual earnings specific to each payee.
This can help you calculate the earnings that may need to be reported on tax forms.
