Create and Manage Splits

Overview

Splits allow you to share royalties with payees, making it easy to manage payouts for collaborators.

To create a split, navigate to the Splits index page by clicking on  Split ShareSplits. If you don’t have any splits yet, you’ll see a prompt to create one.

To create a split, click New Split to open the new page:

  1. Enter a unique name for your split.
  2. By default, 100% of royalties remain in your account. To share royalties with others, click Add Share.

  1. Type in the payee’s name and their percentage share of the royalties. To create a new payee, click Create New Payee and invite them to set up their SymphonicMS account.

  1. Once the relevant percentages are entered, click Save Split

Save Splits opens the Split Hub page. From here, you can edit the Split name, add tracks, and edit shares as needed.

You can easily access any existing Split’s Hub Page by clicking View on the index page

Add Tracks

On the Hub page, you can assign tracks to the Split. Adding tracks ensures that any future royalties will be allocated based on the percentage defined in the shares section. Royalties will be calculated based on the shares, regardless of the payee’s enrollment status. You can view the payee’s calculated earnings both on the Payee Earning History page and the SplitShare tab in Royalty Details.

To add a track to the split:

  1. Click Add Track. You can search for tracks or filter them by artist or status.

  1. Select the tracks you want to add, then click Add to Split.

Once you’re done, close the window, and the selected tracks will now have future royalties calculated based on the Split percentages.

Edit Shares

You can edit the shares for the Split to update how royalties should be allocated for assigned tracks.

To edit shares:

  1. Click Edit Share to open the drawer

  1. You can:
    • Remove a payee by clicking the trash can icon next to their name
    • Add a new payee by clicking Add Share

  2. Click Save Shares

The changes to the shares will be applied to all future royalties for the assigned tracks.
