Downloads Analytics (Overview)

Download Analytics gives you a daily view of how your catalog is selling as paid downloads. It aggregates download activity from Amazon, Beatport, iTunes, and Traxsource across your entire catalog, so you can see which stores, artists, releases, tracks, and territories are driving purchases.

Daily download numbers are estimates provided by our download partners. They can vary slightly from the figures that appear on your final royalty reports, which are the numbers used for payment.

Opening Download Analytics

From the top navigation bar, go to Analytics ► Download Analytics. The dashboard opens with your full catalog and a default date range already applied.

The Download Analytics dashboard: filters and totals across the top, a store-by-store breakdown on the left, and the downloads graph on the right.

Choosing a date range and store

Use the controls at the top of the page to focus the dashboard on the period and store you care about:

  • Date Range — set the start and end dates for the data you want to see.
  • Partner — leave this on All to include every store, or pick a single store (Amazon, Beatport, iTunes, or Traxsource) to view it on its own.
  • Apply — click Apply to refresh the whole dashboard with your selections.

Once you apply your filters, the counters near the top of the page show the totals for that selection: Track Downloads and Album Downloads.

The store breakdown

The panel on the left of the graph lists each download store — Beatport, iTunes, Amazon, and Traxsource — with its own Tracks and Albums totals for the selected date range. This is a quick way to compare how each store is performing against the others.

Reading the downloads graph

The graph plots your download activity over the selected date range. Use the Tracks and Albums toggle above the chart to switch between track downloads and album downloads. Hover over any point on the line to see the total for that day.

Detailed breakdowns

Below the graph, four panels break your downloads down by the dimension you want to explore. Each panel shows a running Total, a search box to jump to a specific entry, and a sort control to reorder the list. Every entry lists its Tracks and, where relevant, its Albums download counts.

  • Artists — download totals for each artist in your catalog.
  • Tracks — individual tracks, each shown with its ISRC for easy identification.
  • Releases — download totals grouped by release.
  • Territories — where your downloads are coming from, listed by country.

Understanding negative numbers

You may occasionally see a negative value in your download counts. A negative number reflects returned content — a download that was purchased and later refunded or returned to the store. In the graph, returns appear as a distinct colored area, and in your totals they reduce the count for that period. This is expected behavior and simply keeps your totals accurate.

A note on data timing

Because download figures come from our partners on a daily feed, occasional delays can happen. When a store's data is behind, a notice appears at the top of the dashboard (for example, a delay in Traxsource data from a specific date). Once the store catches up, the figures fill back in automatically.

What you see here are day-to-day estimates. For the official, payable numbers, always refer to your final royalty reports.
