Artist translations enable you to provide accurate translations for your artist in any of the languages we support. They help enhance the discoverability of your release in localized storefronts on supported DSPs.
Let's say your artist is natively presented in Korean, but you have an English translation for that market. Users in locales where English is the default language when accessing Apple Music will be able to search and find your artist and their associated releases in English instead of Korean.
Translations should only be entered if you can provide an accurate translation in the selected language, and your artist name is conveyed differently in that language. It is not a requirement to enter artist translations.
Supported DSPs
Apple is the only DSP to which we deliver translations at this time.
Chinese Language Requirements
Chinese language requires metadata to be provided in both Chinese: Simplified and Chinese: Traditional.
If your artist name's default metadata language is in either Chinese: Simplified or Chinese: Traditional you are required to provide a translation of your artist name in the other Chinese metadata language.
If your artist name's default metadata language isn't one of the Chinese metadata languages and you want to add Chinese translations you will need to supply translations for both Chinese: Simplified and Chinese: Traditional.
How to add artist translations:
When editing your artist, you'll see a button to '+ Add Translation'. Clicking this will add a row to select the translation language you're providing and fields to provide the artist's name.
