When your account balance reaches the minimum threshold in your deal terms, you can request a payment of your royalties. Payment requests are made from your SymphonicMS account, where you can also review and update the payment and tax details we'll use to pay you.
How and when you're paid
We report and pay royalties on a monthly basis, because that's when we receive streaming and sales data from DSPs.
Keep in mind that receiving a report from a DSP isn't the same as receiving the money that goes with it — we can only issue a payment once we have both the report and the funds in hand, and it can take a DSP around 60 days to send us those funds. For timing details, check our report notices. We process payments every day up to a daily cutoff, so once your request is in, it moves into the next processing run.
Before you request payment
Two things need to be in place before a request can go through:
- Your payment and tax details are current. Out-of-date details are the most common cause of delays, so it's worth checking them first — here's how to update your tax and payment details.
- Your account balance meets the minimum threshold set in your deal terms. Balances below the threshold aren't lost — they carry over and keep building toward the next request.
How to request payment
From the top navigation bar, go to Royalties ► Request Payment. Payment requests open in the first week of every month and close around the last week — see the royalties posting schedule for exact timing, and submit within that window to be paid for the current cycle.
Payment methods and currencies
Payments are issued through our trusted third-party provider, Tipalti, which keeps your payment details secure. You can be paid by ACH, Wire Transfer, PayPal, or Check, in the currencies valid for your territory.
What to know before you submit
- Double-check that your payment and tax details are up to date — this is the single best way to avoid a delayed payment.
- Allow 3–5 business days to receive your payment after you submit the request.
- Processing fees are deducted from your payment, and depending on the method, the fee may not be shown separately in the system. See Payment Processing Fees for details, and if you're paid in another currency, FX (currency conversion) fees may also apply.
- Anything you don't request, along with any balance below the threshold, carries over to the next period.
- If you're an international client, additional tax regulations may apply to your payment.
What happens after you submit
Once your request is in, the system generates an invoice and verifies the tax information on file before the payment is issued. Requests are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Payments are processed automatically, with human review happening during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM–6 PM EST). If your tax details don't clear this step, see what to do when your EIN or SSN isn't validating or matching.
If your payment hasn't arrived
Give it up to 5 business days from the day you submitted. If more than 5 business days have passed and you still haven't received your payment, please reach out to us.
