General Tax Overview

Note: Symphonic is not a legal or tax authority. We do not give legal or tax advice. Symphonic simply reports and provides information as we've been instructed to. Please consult a tax professional or legal authority for advice and direction.

Symphonic is responsible for reporting all royalties earned to the US government (IRS) for all US and non-US earnings. If you’ve earned royalties through Symphonic in excess of $10, we will supply you with forms on an annual basis once we collect your tax information.

It is important for all clients to submit their payment and tax details in a timely fashion. Until a valid tax form is submitted, Symphonic is required to withhold up to 30% on all untaxed earnings.

For US Clients:

We will email a 1099-MISC tax form annually. Please note that corporations and SplitShare Payees will not receive a 1099-MISC.

For non-US Clients:

We will email a 1042-S tax form annually. Please note, SplitShare Payees will not receive a 1042-S.
