There are several reasons why your music may not be appearing on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram). In many cases, the issue is temporary — your content may still be processing, indexing, or waiting on a metadata update. In other cases, the content may have been flagged or removed by Meta due to their eligibility requirements. Because Meta handles music differently than platforms like Spotify or Apple Music, it's not unusual for content to be live on other services but not yet visible on Instagram or Facebook.
Below, we'll walk through the most common reasons your music may be missing and what steps you can take to resolve each one.
My Music was Removed from Meta by Symphonic
If your release was previously delivered to Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and has been taken down, you will see a takedown action directly on the release itself. To find this, navigate to Content ► Releases ► Click on the release ► Scroll down to partners. From there, you can see any actions that Symphonic may have taken on your release.
If your content has been removed from Instagram, Facebook, or other Meta services, it was most likely flagged as ineligible content. Meta restricts audio to original, fully owned content to prevent claims and disputes.
The most common reasons for removal are:
-The track contains leased or non-exclusively licensed beats (this is the #1 reason we see)
-The track contains royalty-free samples from production libraries
-The track is a cover, remix, or derivative of another artist's work
-The track contains AI-generated elements
-The track is ambient, meditation, or sleep music without clear musical structure
-The track contains excessive spoken word content (10+ seconds)
-The track was already submitted to Meta through another distributor
Please note that these are Meta's requirements, not Symphonic's. We follow their guidelines to maintain our partnership and ensure all of our clients can continue distributing to Meta. Unfortunately, we cannot alter the outcome of the decision made by Meta.
My music isn't going live on Meta, or I cannot search for it. What's happening?
If your release is showing as delivered, and you're still not seeing it live, it may need some additional time to ingest. Most releases are live and available on Meta within 1 to 2 weeks of delivery. We recommend submitting your release at least 10 business days before your target launch date to ensure delivery is complete by your release date.
Common reasons for delays or missing content include:
You submitted too close to your launch date
If you submit less than 5 business days before your launch, your music may not be searchable by your intended date. Meta's system takes time to ingest and index content. This is normal processing time, not an error.
Your track appears on multiple releases with different dates (aka waterfall release)
This is a common issue that catches clients by surprise. If the same track appears on multiple releases (for example, a single and an album) with different go-live dates, Meta will use the latest date for all versions.
Example: You release a single on January 1 and later release an album on March 1 that includes the same track. The single will not appear on Meta until March 1, the album's date.
If you believe this is happening with your release, please submit a request and let us know. We may need to redeliver the earlier release to correct this.
Metadata or technical issues
Incomplete, incorrectly formatted, or missing metadata can slow or prevent delivery. Make sure your release has:
-Accurate and complete track titles and artist names
-Properly assigned ISRC codes
-Correct genre classifications
-High-quality cover art meeting specifications
Your content was quietly removed
In some cases, content may be removed by Meta without a prominent notification. If it's been more than 2 weeks and your music still isn't live, it's worth checking whether the content may be ineligible. Review the eligibility requirements above.
Licensing disputes
Occasionally, a track may be removed or restricted due to a licensing dispute between Meta and a rights holder. This is usually temporary and may resolve when the dispute is settled.
Your content is still indexing
There's an important distinction to understand: content being delivered is not the same as content being searchable. Your music may have been successfully delivered to Meta, but may not yet appear in search results. There are several reasons this can happen.
Meta takes time to fully index new content in their search database. Even after delivery, it can take 1 to 2 weeks before your track appears in search results. If your music was recently submitted, it may simply need more time.
You're searching on a Business account
This is one of the most common reasons clients can't find their music. Business accounts have limited or no access to Meta's music library. Meta's licensed music library is intended for personal, non-commercial use.
If you're using a Business account on Instagram or Facebook, you may not be able to search or use artist music. The solution is to switch to a Creator account, which provides full access to the music library while still offering business features like analytics and promotions.
Geographic or regional restrictions
Music availability can vary by country and region based on licensing agreements. Your track might be available in the United States but restricted in certain other territories. This is determined by licensing agreements between Meta and rights holders, and may be beyond your control.
How to search for your music on Meta
If you're having trouble finding your track, try the following:
-Search by exact track title in the music sticker or audio picker
-Search by artist name to see all available tracks
-Search using ISRC code format: ISRC:XXXX12345678 (replace with your actual ISRC). This often works when title search doesn't.
-Try searching on Instagram Reels vs. Instagram Stories, as availability may differ
-Ask someone with a Personal or Creator account to search (if you're using a Business account)
If none of these work and it's been more than 2 weeks since submission, please submit a request and our team will investigate.
