Spotify Artist Profile Protection (APP)

Artist Profile Protection (APP) is an optional Spotify for Artists feature that gives artists more control over their Spotify profile. When you opt in, you decide which releases appear on your profile, contribute to your stats, and show up in recommendations. This added security gives artists peace of mind, knowing that unauthorized releases can't be delivered to their profiles.

Spotify sends invitations to APP directly to a limited group of artists. Symphonic cannot enroll you in the program or request an invitation on your behalf — the invite comes from Spotify.

What you get when you opt into APP

Once you accept Spotify's invitation and opt in, you'll see three new things in Spotify for Artists:

• Approvals Tab — where you can approve or decline releases and view everything that's already been pre-approved to your profile.
• Artist Key — a unique identifier that can be included in a release's delivery metadata so the release is automatically pre-approved to your profile, without you having to approve it manually.
• Notifications — you're notified any time a release is delivered to Spotify that lists you as an artist.

What the Artist Key does & how Symphonic supports it

Symphonic can now include your Artist Key in the metadata we send Spotify when we deliver your releases. When your key is included, your new releases are automatically pre-approved to your Spotify profile — so you don't have to approve each one manually through the Approvals Tab.

In short: add your Artist Key to your artist profile in SymphonicMS once, and we'll include it in your deliveries going forward.

• APP applies to new deliveries. Releases uploaded before you opted into APP bypass the program. The Artist Key only affects releases delivered after you've opted in.
• You'll still get notified. Even with automatic pre-approval, Spotify still notifies you whenever a release listing you as an artist is delivered.
• Releases without a key are also auto-approved. For APP-enrolled artists, any release delivered without your Artist Key will go live on the artist's profile as scheduled unless action is taken to deny the release on the Approvals section. 

How to get set up

If Spotify has invited you to APP and you've opted in, navigate to Catalog ► Artists and enter your Artist Key in the Spotify Artist Key field while editing your artist. 

From there, we'll include your key in your new release deliveries so your new releases are automatically pre-approved to your Spotify profile.

What happens if a release is delivered without my key?

For APP-enrolled artists, any release delivered without your Artist Key will go live on the artist's profile as scheduled unless action is taken to deny the release in the Approvals section. If you are transferring older releases between distributors, you may need to approve releases. Be sure to check your Spotify for Artists account to ensure all releases are approved. 

Will I still get notified about new releases?

Yes. Spotify still notifies you any time a release listing you as an artist is delivered, even with automatic pre-approval turned on.
