To maintain transparency and support the responsible use of AI, Symphonic requires clients using generative AI to disclose relevant information about their projects during the SymphonicMS upload and submission process.
Whether content is fully AI-generated or AI-assisted, clients may be asked to provide information about the tools, models, or companies used in the creative process. This information helps Symphonic:
- Meet AI disclosure and metadata requirements established by DSPs and other partners
- Evaluate applicable licensing and authorization requirements
- Properly route content based on individual DSP policies
- Protect artists, creators, and rights holders
- Identify potential infringement, impersonation, fraud, or other misuse
Disclosure of AI use does not automatically mean content is eligible for distribution to every platform. DSPs maintain their own policies regarding AI-generated and AI-assisted content, and certain partners may restrict or prohibit particular types of AI content.
AI Disclosure During Release Creation and Submission
During the asset upload process, you will be asked to indicate whether generative AI was used in the creation of audio and artwork for new tracks. If you edit an existing release and resubmit it, you may also be required to provide this AI information before submission.
Below is an example of the question you will be asked regarding AI usage in audio files:
Clients are responsible for providing accurate disclosures and for having the rights and permissions necessary to create, distribute, and monetize the content they submit. Where applicable, AI models and services used in the creation of content must also meet Symphonic's applicable licensing and authorization requirements.
Symphonic may supplement client-provided disclosures with detection, fingerprinting, provenance, validation, or other technologies designed to help identify and verify AI-generated content. These technologies are intended to support—not replace—accurate disclosure by our clients.
Symphonic does not distribute content that unfairly or illegally impersonates an individual's likeness, infringes upon the intellectual property or other rights of third parties, or otherwise violates our content policies. These standards apply to both AI-generated and non-AI-generated content.
As the AI music landscape continues to evolve, so will our policies and submission requirements. We will continue adapting as DSP requirements, licensing frameworks, laws, regulations, industry standards, and technical capabilities develop.
Symphonic Music Video submissions:
Symphonic accepts and delivers music videos to eligible partners selected by our clients. However, AI-generated and AI-assisted videos may be subject to additional disclosure requirements or delivery restrictions depending on the destination partner.
- AI disclosure may be required. Certain partners, including Apple Music and Vevo, require disclosure when AI has been used in the creation of a music video. Where required, Symphonic will communicate this information to the applicable partner based on the information you provide during submission.
- Delivery eligibility may vary by partner. A music video accepted for submission by Symphonic is not necessarily eligible for delivery to every selected partner. Where a DSP or partner restricts or prohibits certain AI-generated content, Symphonic will respect that policy and may exclude that destination from delivery.
- Fully AI-generated videos are not eligible for Symphonic marketing services, including playlist pitching and other applicable promotional support.
If you use AI tools in music video production—including AI-generated visuals, effects, editing, or other material contributions—please disclose this during submission so that we can properly handle the video across applicable delivery partners.
Partner Restrictions
Some partners currently restrict or do not accept certain works created using generative AI. These policies are established by the individual platforms and may change over time. Symphonic will update our delivery requirements as partner policies evolve.
Current restrictions include:
Audible Magic
Meta
Bandcamp
YouTube Content ID
Content that is eligible for distribution through Symphonic may therefore be ineligible for delivery, monetization, rights management, recommendation, or other services on a particular platform.
