Release Campaign Builder

At Symphonic Distribution, we know that releasing music is more than just distribution — it’s about building momentum, reaching the right audience, and maximizing impact. Our Release Campaign Builder is designed to help artists and labels create effective, actionable marketing strategies for each release, without the guesswork. If you have a Starter or Partner account with Symphonic, you will have access to this tool.

Please note that the ability to submit marketing drivers is not available for Starter accounts; however, that does not affect the use of this tool.

This feature uses artificial intelligence to generate a customized release campaign tailored to your release, giving you clear guidance on what to do before, during, and after launch.

What Does the Release Campaign Builder Do?

The Release Campaign Builder analyzes key details of your release — such as release date, artist profile information, and genre — and produces a structured marketing roadmap that includes:

Pre-release strategies

  • Suggested timelines for announcements and teasers
  • Social media and content ideas to build anticipation
  • Playlist pitching and audience engagement recommendations

Release-day actions

  • Platform-specific promotion suggestions
  • Fan engagement tactics
  • Best practices for maximizing visibility on launch day

Post-release promotion

  • Long-tail marketing ideas to keep streams growing
  • Content and engagement strategies beyond release week
  • Tips for maintaining momentum and audience growth

Each campaign is designed to be practical, easy to follow, and adaptable to your unique goals.

Why This Feature is Beneficial

1. Saves Time and Reduces Guesswork

Marketing a release can be overwhelming, especially without a dedicated marketing team. The campaign builder gives you a ready-to-use framework so you can focus on execution instead of planning from scratch.

2. Built for Independent Artists and Labels

Whether you’re an independent artist or managing multiple releases for a label, this feature scales with you. It provides structured guidance that works for both first-time releases and established catalogs.

3. Encourages Consistency and Organization

Successful releases follow a timeline. The campaign builder ensures you’re promoting your music consistently before, during, and after release — not just on release day.

4. Helps Maximize Your Distribution Efforts

Distribution is only part of the equation. A strong release campaign increases the likelihood that your music reaches new listeners, performs better on DSPs, and builds long-term audience growth.

5. Educational and Actionable

Beyond promotion, the campaign builder helps you learn best practices for music marketing. Over time, artists and labels can develop stronger marketing habits and strategies.

How to Use the Release Campaign Builder

  • You must have a release whose release date is at least 6 weeks out from the current date.

Under the Marketing tab, select Release Campaign Builder

If you have a release that is at least 6 weeks out from the current release date, you'll see the release selector. Clicking it will display the releases in your account that are eligible to generate a release campaign.

If you don't have any releases eligible to generate a release campaign, you won't see the release selector and instead see guidance to create an eligible release.

After selecting a release, you'll be asked to provide marketing context, which will give you the ability to update artist profiles and submit marketing drivers. Please note that the ability to submit marketing drivers is only available for our Partner clients.

  • What is your budget?
Knowing how much you want to spend, if any, lets us know what is/isn't feasible when promoting your release. Whole positive numbers are accepted. Provide "0" if you plan on not spending any money.
  • What is your goal?
Having a goal in mind focuses on what actions you need to take in order to achieve the best results of your marketing push.
    • Get a playlist placement
    • Increase active listeners
    • Get more exposure
  • Artist Profile
You'll see all primary artists at the release level with their profile completion status. The more data you provide about your artists, the more personal your release campaign will be. We recommend getting your artists to 100% completion for best results.
  • Marketing Driver Status (Partner clients only)
We let you know if you've submitted your marketing driver for this release or not. Marketing drivers give detailed insight about the release that we normally can't get otherwise. This insight better shapes the release campaign so it isn't "run-of-the-mill". Plus marketing drivers allow our team to pitch your release to DSPs to get playlist placements, boosting your outreach to new fans. We recommend submitting your marketing driver, which will show as Complete on this page once done. Starter clients do not have the ability to submit marketing drivers.

Once you've filled out the additional details and select Next, you'll be taken to a landing page where we generate your release campaign. You can wait around until it's done or come back later.

You'll see all of your release campaigns on the landing page (completed and currently generating).

After selecting one of your campaigns, you'll see a full outline of each phase we suggest, along with a general timeline to achieve the actions within that phase.

At the bottom of the release campaign, we have a feedback section where you can let us know if the campaign was helpful or not and why. Your feedback helps us shape better and better versions of the Release Campaign Builder.
