Album Art Specifications

Deliver the album’s original cover art, and don’t use generic art templates. Don’t use art that doesn’t match the album you’re delivering. The same image can not be used for different releases.

Your release cover art should be in the following specifications. This is a requirement by the many partners we work with.

  • a minimum size of 3000 x 3000 pixels (a perfect square)
  • a minimum resolution of 72dpi (we recommend 300dpi)
  • RGB color mode (CMYK will not show up correctly)
  • JPEG file format
  • Do not send us thumbnails, .png files, or images smaller than the requested size.

The following are NOT allowed on your release artwork:

  • The titles in the artwork cannot be different than the metadata. The image must be specific to the release you are submitting. Any titles on the artwork should correlate to the titles in the metadata.
  • Release time frames or time-sensitive information such as release dates. Artwork cannot contain the word "Exclusive," "new release," or "out on xx/xx"
  • UPC barcodes or QR codes.
  • Images must not be blurry, pixelated, mismatched, misaligned, rotated, incorrect, or have other quality issues.
  • Large borders around your artwork.
  • URL website addresses
  • Website Logos, such as Spotify or Apple logos.
  • Social media handles.
  • References to the physical packaging (for example, the art cannot depict a CD or cassette) or any other retailers.

  • Pornography or a URL for a website that contains or links to pornography.
  • The art must not up-sell to another product.
  • The art must not be misleading (for example, prominently depicting or referencing an artist even though the artist does not perform on the album).
  • Art must not contain references to content that the album doesn't contain, such as “included DVD” or “includes lyrics.”
  • Tribute albums where the name of the original artist is as large or larger than the performing artist
  • Artwork must not contain the name of the original performer for Cover tracks.
  • References to the audio file format, such as Atmos, Dolby Atmos, spatial audio, lossless, high-resolution audio, high resolution, 24-bit, or 192 kHz.
  • Art must not promote hatred based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national/ethnic origin, or other identities.
  • Trademarked images or logos
  • If you are using an AI tool to assist in generating artwork, you can't depict popular artists or celebrities not associated with the project directly.
