At Symphonic, like many others in the music industry, we are adapting and evolving with the rapid changes in the music landscape. As generative AI technology becomes more prevalent, we recognize that content distributed through our systems will increasingly involve AI in some capacity.
To maintain transparency and uphold ethical standards, we ask clients experimenting with AI to disclose details about their projects prior to distribution and within the SymphonicMS upload process. Whether your music is fully AI-generated or AI-assisted, we require insight into the models and companies used in the creative process. This seamless process ensures that both you, the client, and we at Symphonic, approach AI responsibly.
As of 2024, the rise of generative AI in music creation has opened up new possibilities—from AI systems capable of composing original tracks to tools that assist musicians in the creative process. Leading models like Suno, Udio, OpenAI's Jukebox, Google’s MusicLM, and various proprietary systems are commonly used to generate melodies, harmonies, cover art, and even lyrics. These technologies allow artists to explore innovative sounds and workflows, but they also introduce challenges around ownership, originality, and ethical use. We recognize that while there is still much to be addressed regarding AI, it is crucial to monitor and engage with this field responsibly.
Symphonic remains committed to not approving any release that unfairly or illegally impersonates the likeness of an individual. We will also not approve any AI-generated content that infringes on the intellectual property of other creators. This policy applies to both AI-driven and non-AI-driven productions.
As the AI music landscape evolves, so too will our policies, but our core commitment to ethical and responsible music distribution will remain unchanged.
(Our statement and policies surrounding this subject are subject to consistent review and evolution and we will document any changes that we intend to make and/or do make).
