Accepted / Scrutinized Genres

Symphonic distributes music of all genres and styles. Some material fitting foreign genres in different languages and/or in the genres of Bollywood, Indian, Arabic, Cyrillic, Classical, Nature Music, Asian (Chinese) will be heavily scrutinized for rights given that these markets are newer entrants into the Digital Distribution field of music and further, because we are scrutinized for distributing this type of material by the Digital Service Provider.

Public Domain is not accepted unless it is a cover. Many territories and individuals look at Public Domain in a different way then we may but, we will not accept any material that is the original public domain recording, only a re-creation/cover with proper rights. The composition itself may be public domain but the original recording is not and the rights will be owned by someone. This is common with music from the '20s, '30s and early '40s that may have recently entered public domain. You can cover the song without a license but not download and then distribute any original recording of the song.

Please Note: Due to the nature of not having to license public domain and classical music there is a vast abundance of it online. Digital Service Providers will often scrub the site and remove the bottom XX% of the content that doesn't generate much revenue (i.e. almost all of it) and keep the larger releases as to not oversaturate the market with hundreds of thousands of releases of the same song(s). If the content gets hidden, which happens from time to time, it is at the discretion of the DSP. Unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do when this happens.

If we discover any issues with your release, we will reach out, place the release on hold until we hear from you.
