Beatport and Traxsource are electronic-oriented online music stores. These partners require advanced approvals in order to deliver content. To have your music on Beatport and Traxsource, it must be associated with a label brand.
How to get approved on Beatport and Traxsource
Since these partners cater to specific genres, you'll need to seek approval prior to distribution on their platform. The approval process takes around 2 weeks to complete. These partners accept niche content; if your material does not fit the genres they carry, it cannot be sent to their platform. If you already have an account with Symphonic, you can use the form below to get approved on Beatport and Traxsource.
My desired genre is not an option
Beatport adds and removes genres from their approved list like Trap, Tropical House, Jackin' House, Twerk, etc., and sometimes our system may not show a newer genre addition. You can still distribute with these genres, but it needs to be done manually.
If you do not see your Beatport genre when creating a release, follow these steps:
- Submit the release with the next closest genre (for example, if Trap isn't available, select Bass or Hip / Hop).
- Once the release is approved, create a request providing the UPC and desired genre for the release.
- Once we have received the request, we can manually edit the release on Beatport's system.
- Please allow at least 18 days between the release and submission date for this type of edit for the release to go live under the proper genre.
For artists using us directly: Why is my label showing up as Symphonic Distribution?
If you see your release under the label name "Symphonic Distribution" that is because partners such as Beatport, Traxsource, and others don’t add artists as label names.
For clients who signed up to our flat fee artist distribution service before July 2018, we let your music go onto these platforms (if approved by our admin) however, they need to go under a "label" and thus, are placed under the “Symphonic Distribution” brand. This is the only way to get the material on some partners. The royalties are reported to you the same way as if it were your own brand or name on partners that require approval.
How to get featured on Beatport
So you have a new release and want it to be featured on Beatport. Get ready, because there is a lot of competition. The good news is that it can all happen with consistency and, of course, good music. We work very hard to help our clients get features every week.
If you'd like to increase the probability of being featured, we have some tips that might help here. Being featured in the first place isn't easy but, it is possible. A common misconception is that you can pay to be on the front page and we'll put that to rest right now because no, front page features are not available for sale.
Everyone has the opportunity to be featured on the front page or aspects of Beatport and other partners however, we recommend you deliver material 4-5 weeks before its release date, have a consistent and professional design of your website and social media, release music consistently and most of all, have great music.

What is Beatport Hype?
HYPE is a subscription-based program geared towards smaller independent electronic music labels. For a monthly fee of $10, this program groups your label into a pool of labels of a similar profile and revenue level (earning less than $15,000.00 in a 365 day period), offering access to placement and chart visibility among developing labels, free from competition from the larger labels and brands that dominate the platform’s merchandising and charts.
Being a member of this program makes the label’s releases eligible for placement in any HYPE-specific merchandising sections in various genres as well as specific spots in the main merchandising modules of the store, including banners on the genre pages and the Homepage. It also makes releases and tracks eligible for the HYPE-specific charts in various genres as well as the overall Top 100 chart.
Symphonic feels strongly about this program and its ability to help labels grow their brand and drive revenue at Beatport. You may register for this program at https://gethype.beatport.com/
If you have questions about the program and how it may be a good fit for your label, please create a request via the help tab on your SymphonicMS dashboard.
